Navel acupuncture is used as a supportive approach to assist recovery after surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy, helping the body gradually restore balance, reduce discomfort, and adapt during the healing process.

You may benefit from James Navel Acupuncture if you have one or more of the following:

✓ Post-Surgery & Post-Treatment Symptoms

If you are currently undergoing, or have completed, surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy,
you may be experiencing one or more of the following:

  • Persistent pain, tightness, or discomfort following surgery

  • Slow recovery or limited mobility in the affected area

  • Localized numbness, tension, or lack of coordination

  • Ongoing fatigue, weakness, or low energy after treatment

  • Reduced stamina and slow physical recovery

  • Light or disrupted sleep, difficulty fully relaxing

  • Emotional fluctuations, anxiety, or increased sensitivity to bodily changes

These experiences may persist even when medical tests appear stable,
and can continue to affect daily functioning and overall recovery.

🌿How Does Navel Acupuncture Surpport  Post-Surgery & Post-Treatment Recovery ?

In recent years, cancer- and tumor-related conditions have become increasingly common.

Beyond the diagnosis itself, many individuals experience persistent pain, physical discomfort, fatigue, emotional distress, sleep disruption, and multi-system imbalance.

Even after surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy, long-term recovery challenges and reduced quality of life remain significant issues that are not always fully resolved within conventional medical care.

How Traditional Chinese Medicine Understands Tumor and Cancer Formation?

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, tumors and cancer-related conditions are not sudden events.

They are understood as the result of a long-term, gradual process of internal imbalance and accumulation, traditionally categorized under the concept of Zheng Jia Ji Ju (癥瘕积聚).

At its core, this process can be summarized in two key factors:

obstruction and stagnation.

When a tumor becomes detectable, it often indicates that internal stagnation has already accumulated to a significant degree.
For this reason, TCM places strong emphasis on understanding the process of formation, rather than focusing only on the final manifestation.

The Progressive Nature of Tumor Formation

Clinically, the development of tumors is often described as progressing through several stages:

  • Qi stagnation

  • Blood stasis

  • Phlegm accumulation

  • Qi binding or toxic accumulation

During the stages of qi stagnation and blood stasis, individuals may experience tension, distension, pressure, pain, or palpable irregularities, even before a clearly defined mass has formed.
At this stage, regulatory intervention is often more flexible and proactive.

As the condition progresses into phlegm accumulation, structural changes such as cysts, nodules, hardened masses, or stone-like formations may gradually appear, and clinical complexity increases.

When the process advances further into qi binding or toxic accumulation, tumors may form and, in some cases, progress toward malignancy.
At this point, treatment becomes significantly more complex, and for some individuals, the condition is already advanced at the time of detection.

Why Early Understanding and Early Intervention Matter

Because tumor development is a progressive process, TCM emphasizes that early understanding and early intervention represent the most advanced clinical approach.

When the body repeatedly shows signs such as qi stagnation, blood stasis, localized tension, palpable irregularities, or functional imbalance, these are meaningful signals rather than incidental findings.

Timely regulation at these earlier stages—through restoring circulation, improving internal balance, and supporting long-term physiological resilience—may significantly reduce the risk of further progression.

In contrast, when attention is only given after a mass is clearly formed or visible on imaging, the most favorable window for adjustment may already have passed.

Why Tumor-Related Conditions Are Often Difficult to Treat?

Once a tumor has formed, treatment challenges usually arise from multiple overlapping factors.

First, many individuals experience a marked decline in physical and emotional resilience following diagnosis, even before formal treatment begins.
Fear, anxiety, insomnia, mental exhaustion, and emotional distress can significantly disrupt physiological regulation and immune function.

Second, some tumor-related conditions involve complex contributing factors that extend beyond what physical or emotional regulation alone can fully address.
In such cases, even with both conventional medical care and TCM support, outcomes may remain difficult to predict.

How Navel Acupuncture Is Applied in These Conditions?

In tumor-related conditions, navel acupuncture is applied through the following supportive and regulatory approaches:

1. Promoting overall circulation and release of stagnation
By engaging the navel region as a central regulatory point, treatment aims to reduce long-standing tension and obstruction, creating space for physiological adjustment.

2. Improving the internal environment and constitutional balance
This includes supporting qi and blood circulation, harmonizing organ systems and meridian function, and enhancing the body’s inherent regulatory capacity.

3. Reducing the burden associated with disease and treatment
Including pain, physical discomfort, emotional stress, energy depletion, and the cumulative strain of long-term illness or medical intervention.

It is important to clarify that James navel acupuncture in this context serves a supportive and regulatory role. It does not replace oncology care, nor does it make outcome-based guarantees.

Individual responses vary, and ongoing assessment is essential throughout the process.

🌿How Many Treatments Are Usually Needed?

Each person’s sleep problem is different. The treatment plan and frequency are adjusted based on individual condition and response.

In many cases of general insomnia, noticeable changes can often be observed within about three treatment sessions, such as:

Falling asleep more easily

Fewer awakenings during the night

Deeper or more restful sleep

For individuals with long-standing or more severe insomnia,
those with disrupted daily rhythms, or coexisting chronic conditions,a more systematic and sustained course of treatment is usually required to gradually restore the body’s natural regulatory capacity.

Treatment is adjusted according to individual response, rather than following a fixed or mechanical number of sessions.

🌿 Treatment Notes

Before Treatment

Please review the precautions for Navel Acupuncture before treatment.

If you have had any recent medical tests, imaging, or are currently receiving other treatments, please inform your acupuncturist.

During Treatment

Sensations during acupuncture vary from person to person.
Mild discomfort, soreness, or pressure during insertion may occur and is considered normal.

In general, the more relaxed the body is, the milder the sensation.
Navel Acupuncture is a safe treatment. Please remain relaxed and avoid unnecessary tension during the session.

After Treatment

After treatment, allow yourself adequate time to rest and avoid returning immediately to strenuous activity.

Drinking warm water may help support overall regulation.
On the day of treatment, please avoid excessive exertion and exposure to cold or wind.

In some cases, patients may experience temporary fatigue or mild localized discomfort after treatment.
These responses usually resolve on their own.
If significant discomfort occurs, please contact your acupuncturist.

For sleep-related concerns, it is recommended to follow natural sleep rhythms as much as possible.
Going to bed earlier—ideally before 11:00 pm—may better support the body’s night-time regulation.

Please try to reduce stimulation before sleep, such as excessive screen use, overthinking, or mentally demanding activities.
Creating a calm pre-sleep routine can help the body settle more smoothly.

Maintaining a regular daily routine and reducing evening stimulation may support sleep recovery.
Simple practices such as gentle stretching, relaxed breathing, or quiet sitting can help the body gradually settle.

When conditions allow, spending time in natural environments—such as sunlight, fresh air, greenery, or open spaces—may further support emotional stability and sleep regulation.
