Multi-site / Complex Pain Treatment
with Navel Acupuncture
When pain affects multiple areas, persists for a long time, or has no clear cause, navel acupuncture focuses on whole-body regulation to help calm the system and restore balance.
Does your Multi-site / Complex Pain look like this?
You may benefit from James Navel Acupuncture if you have one or more of the following:

✓ Widespread or Multi-site Pain
Pain affecting multiple areas of the body at the same time, without a single clear focal point.
Often accompanied by fatigue, tightness, or a sense of overall discomfort.

✓ Cancer- or Tumor-Related Pain
Pain or discomfort associated with tumors or related medical treatments.
Navel acupuncture is used to support regulation and symptom relief, not as a replacement for medical care.

✓ Chronic or Long-Standing Recurrent Pain
Pain lasting for months or years, or recurring repeatedly and difficult to fully resolve.
Often related to medical history such as previous surgery, old injuries, or long-term physical stress.

✓ Post-Chemotherapy or Post-Radiation Pain
Pain, numbness, tightness, or abnormal sensations following chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

✓ Pain of Unclear Origin
Persistent pain despite unclear imaging findings or medical diagnosis.
Symptoms may fluctuate with stress levels, daily routine, or emotional state.
🌿How Does Navel Acupuncture Treat Multi-site / Complex Pain?
Understanding the Treatment Approach
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, multi-site or complex pain is often not caused by a single local problem, but by an imbalance in the body’s overall regulatory system—including the flow of Qi and blood, the coordination of internal organs, and the balance of the meridian system.
When these systems become disrupted, discomfort may appear in multiple areas of the body rather than at one isolated point.
Long-term stress, chronic fatigue, previous injuries, medical treatments, or accumulated physical and emotional strain may gradually disturb the smooth circulation of Qi and blood, leading to persistent or widespread pain patterns.
Why the Navel Can Influence the Whole Body
Navel Acupuncture works by regulating the body from the center.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the navel is known as Shenque (CV8) and is regarded as an important gateway of the body’s vital energy. It plays a key role in coordinating Qi and blood circulation throughout the body and maintaining harmony among the meridians and internal organs.
By applying precise acupuncture around the navel, the body’s internal regulation can be stimulated and rebalanced. As Qi and blood begin to circulate more smoothly, tension, blockage, and discomfort across multiple areas of the body may gradually ease together.
Individualized Diagnosis
During treatment, I combine consultation, tongue diagnosis, pulse diagnosis, navel examination, and palpation, guided by the principles of Yi Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine, to design individualized Navel Acupuncture treatment plans.
How Navel Acupuncture May Help
In clinical practice, many patients gradually notice improvements such as:
• Reduced pain across multiple areas of the body
• Improved overall relaxation and comfort
• Better circulation and reduced physical tension
• Increased energy and greater physical stability
These changes often suggest that Qi and blood circulation in the meridians is improving and the body is moving toward a more balanced state.
🌿How Many Treatments Are Usually Needed?
Multi-site or complex pain varies greatly from person to person.
Treatment frequency and duration are highly individualized and depend on factors such as symptom patterns, medical history, and overall body condition.
Because these conditions often involve long-standing or systemic imbalances, the number of sessions is determined case by case, with ongoing assessment and adjustment during the treatment process.
🌿 Treatment Notes
Before Treatment
Please review the Precautions for Navel Acupuncture before your treatment.
If you have recently undergone medical tests, imaging examinations, or are currently receiving other treatments, please inform your acupuncturist in advance.
During Treatment
Needle sensations vary from person to person. Mild soreness, pressure, or slight discomfort during needle insertion may occur and is generally considered normal.
In most cases, the more relaxed the body is, the milder the sensation will be.
Navel Acupuncture is a safe acupuncture treatment. Please remain relaxed and avoid unnecessary tension during the session.
After Treatment
It is recommended to rest briefly after treatment. Drinking warm water may help support circulation and metabolic adjustment. Please avoid excessive physical exertion and exposure to cold or wind.
Many patients experience noticeable relief during the same treatment session.
In some cases involving more severe or long-standing conditions, a small number of patients may experience temporary reactions after returning home, such as:
• temporary symptom aggravation
• mild skin itching or rash
• diarrhea
These responses are generally considered part of the body’s regulatory process and usually resolve on their own. If necessary, please return for follow-up assessment.
