Headache Relief
with Navel Acupuncture
Most headaches are not “hard to treat” when the root cause or underlying pattern is correctly identified.
Does your headache look like this?
You CAN benefit from James Navel Acupuncture if you have one or more of the following:

✓ Acute headaches
pressure, throbbing, heaviness, tightness, or dull pain anywhere in the head

✓ Post-accident or sports-injury headaches
including whiplash or post-traumatic headaches

✓ Sinus-related headaches
head pressure or heaviness linked to nasal congestion or allergies

✓ Chronic headaches
recurring over months or years, fluctuating in intensity

✓ Post-surgical headaches
persistent or recurrent head pain following brain, head, neck or other surgeries

✓ Headaches with neck or shoulder issues
stiffness, soreness, or limited movement accompanied by head pressure

✓ Migraines
recurrent attacks, one-sided or bilateral, with pressure, fullness, or pulsating pain

✓ Tension-type headaches
squeezing or tight head pain related to stress, mental strain, poor posture, or long work hours

✓ Headaches associated with structural findings
such as vascular or nerve compression, or tumors confirmed by medical imaging.
🌿How Does Navel Acupuncture Treat Headache?
Because the treatment logic of Traditional Chinese Medicine is different from that of Western medicine,
Navel Acupuncture does not chase pain locally.
Instead, it works by restoring whole-body regulation, allowing headache symptoms to resolve naturally and sustainably.
In clinical practice, headaches are commonly approached by functional patterns, not just by location or diagnosis:
I. Functional Headache
Stress-related, posture-related, or nervous-system-related headaches, including:
• Migraine
• Tension-type headache
• Sinus or allergy-related headache
➡️ Most common type, usually responds well to treatment
II. Chronic Recurrent Headache
Headaches with a long history, fluctuating severity, and normal imaging findings.
➡️ Requires regulation rather than symptom suppression
III. Post-Traumatic Headache
Headaches following car accidents (whiplash), sports injuries, or falls.
➡️ Treatment depends on the depth and nature of injury
IV. Complex or Medical-Related Headache
Post-surgical headaches or headaches associated with tumors, cysts, or vascular findings confirmed by imaging.
➡️ Navel Acupuncture is commonly used as supportive regulation therapy alongside appropriate medical care
Through this whole-body regulatory approach, Navel Acupuncture helps to:
• Regulate Qi and blood balance
• Improve circulation and internal coordination
• Support stable, sustainable pain relief
🌿How Many Treatments Are Usually Needed?
Every headache is different. Treatment is individualized. The following are general clinical references:
-
Acute headaches
Usually show clear improvement within 1–3 sessions. -
Chronic recurrent headaches
Commonly stabilize after 3–6 sessions. -
Stubborn or complex headaches
(Long history, multiple contributing factors)
Usually require 1–2 courses of treatment, about 5–10 sessions. -
Headaches related to trauma, space-occupying lesions, or surgery
Need individualized evaluation based on medical findings.
The number of sessions varies from case to case.
🌿 Treatment Notes
Before Treatment
Please review the precautions for Navel Acupuncture before treatment.
If you have had any recent medical tests, imaging, or are currently receiving other treatments, please inform your acupuncturist.
During Treatment
Needle sensations vary from person to person. Mild pain or soreness during insertion may occur and is normal.
In general, the more relaxed you are, the milder the sensation.
Navel Acupuncture is a safe acupuncture treatment. Please stay relaxed and avoid unnecessary tension.
After Treatment
Rest after treatment. Drinking warm water may help support circulation and metabolic adjustment. Please avoid excessive exertion and exposure to cold or wind.
Most headache patients experience noticeable relief during the same treatment session.
In rare cases involving more severe conditions, some patients may experience temporary symptom aggravation, skin itching or rashes, or diarrhea after returning home, usually on the following day or later.
These are considered healing responses. Please do not be overly concerned and return for follow-up assessment as needed.
